How can I set up a test K12LTSP installation to finish wiki documentation?
Originally by linagee
Requirements for setting up a simulation K12LTSP:
Computer One with: (this will the be the "server")
- Harddrive that can be erased (at least 2082MB)
- CD-ROM drive
- NIC (connected to same subnet as computer two)
- Monitor (optional, but you'll have to swap back and forth without)
- Keyboard/Mouse/other bare essentials. (Can be shared between computers if you're really adventurous.)
- Recommended PII 500Mhz or greater
- Recommended 256MB or greater
Computer Two with: (this will be the "client")
- (You do not have to destroy the harddrive of computer two if using a boot floppy. Do this at your own risk, of course.)
- Monitor
- Keyboard/Mouse/other bare essentials.
- NIC (connected to same subnet as computer one)
- Any one of:
- Etherboot boot disk (specific to your NIC)
- Boot disk above, but imaged onto harddrive
- NIC w/ Etherboot ROM onboard
- PXE
magic(beyond scope of this Wiki)
- Etherboot boot disk (specific to your NIC)
- Recommended Pentium 200Mhz or greater
- Recommended 32MB or greater
Other requirements:
- Ability to write an ISO or access to someone with K12LTSP discs.
Steps to set up simulation K12LTSP:
- Obtain K12LTSP ISO images from [http://k12ltsp.org/download.html]?. (I will be using K12LTSP 3.1.0, I'm not sure what version they had at the Hickman Elementary installation.)
- Burn ISOs? to CDs?
- Install Redhat using the LTSP configuration (Using procedure listed on http://k12ltsp.org/install.html#network_plan all the way until the end of that page.)
This is still incomplete. More to come...
