How do I get my modem to work in Linux?
First off, you need to determine what sort of modem you have. Is it a
WinModem? Is it external or internal?
If it's a WinModem, throw it away and get a real modem. Don't support the
abandoning of good engineering princples.
''needs more''
What do I need to know to connect to my ISP?
The telephone number to call, and the kind of service being offered (PPP
or dialup).
For a dialup account, you need to know the username/password to connect
with, and details on how to connect to the host machine if you aren't
automatically connected by virtue of dialing that number.
However, most ISPs expect you to put your machine on the network directly,
using PPP.
