Handy utility that some people may not even know esists
- comes from package kdeaccessibility
- KDE: Applications > Accessibility
- GNOME, just create a launcher for /usr/bin/kmag
- F2 switches from mouse-mode to selector-window mode
- check out Save Snapshot As.., and Print to PDF
Gimp's Perspective tool
Really neat tool for correcting perspective distortion
- Note: must mouse-click on image (shows grid)
- Tool Options: set preview image + grid, (say) 15 grid lines
- AND Backward (corrective)
- clipping probably yes .. but experiment
- drag corners of grid inside image -- will crop
- don't forget to work on a copy of the layer
- remember Gimp online & context help
Wireshark's Flow Graph
Net wizards know this tool .. but look at this neat diagram
(the program formerly known as ethereal)
- Prep Hint: try Statistics > Conversations, [choose something]?, right-click, apply as filter
- Then use Statistics > Flow Graph, Displayed packets
- Note Save As saves a text file (not quite as pretty as gui)
- Consider using kmag to capture & save a snapshot
- Also remember the ability to right click on any packet and choose Follow TCP Stream to see nice payload display.
