How does a user cut and paste a graphic from another application, like a web browser, into Abiword?

There is not really a good way to do this. The best I can come up with currently is:

  • In Mozilla, If the image is a link, right-click on the image and choose Save Image As...
  • If the image is not a link, drag the mouse over the picture to select it, right-click on your selected image and choose Save Image As...
  • Note the name and path of the image on the Save Picture window.
  • Click Save.
  • In Abiword, click Insert Picture shortcut on the Toolbar.
  • Highlight the image you saved with Mozzila in the Abiword Open File screen, and select Ok.

Notes and other issues:

  • Can't drag-n-drop images from browser to Abiword document.

We installed the Abiword plugin GDKPixBuf? which appears to now allow .jpeg and .gif formats to be imported into documents, possibly others.

  • "Can you explain more precisely the steps you used to add these plugins?"

We are currently running 1.0.4, This may be fixed in 1.06.
