In general, there is nothing special to do when connecting Linux to Cox's high speed cable internet service.

However, if you did not purchase your modem from Cox, you may find that your connection does not work properly initially, even though you are connected to the cable network and have recieved an IP address via DHCP.  Your modem must be registered with Cox before they will allow you on the internet.  

The main symptom of not being registered is that any web request will be redirected to a Cox error page.  Other internet traffic, such as email will not work.
