What I find disgusting is how such a small community can attract so many 
people willing to defile it.  I don't get it.

I used to subscribe to the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory:

But that implies that the people were originally normal.

I disagree with that.  These people were always douchebags, but people 
would either never interact with them or pound the snot out of them, so 
that was okay.  Instead, the Internet simply gives these douchebags a 
voice that you can't avoid in certain places.
