According to the manual, standby mode is "less than 60 W." It goes into 
a Power Save mode after a period of inactivity that draws "less than 8 
W." This period is adjustable from 1 min to 2 hr, with the default 
setting being 1 min. I left it there since even when stone cold it goes 
to ready in about 15 sec.

It's a whole lot quieter than the HP Officejet 5610 that it replaced. 
The specs say 26 dB standby and 50 dB printing. The only standby noise 
is a small cooling fan, which is inaudible in my office over the noise 
of the various computers running.
