Can Linksys AP like WRT54G function as a "bridge" (bring wifi to non-wifi PC?)

A USB wifi dongle is cheaper and easier to use. There are even some that
are Linux compatible out of the box. It is also a lot less to carry
around in a laptop bag, and is powered straight from the USB port (as
opposed to requiring a separate 120v power source)
