Most of the intended audience is quite happy to give up security for
interactivity. Indeed most are no even aware that there is a security
issue.

You can. Just use Greasemonkey ;) Or more generally OSS, but then you
know that.
BTW, I also have no intention of supporting anything older than IE6.
NS4 is not even on the horizon. If it works fine if not fine. I am not
sure I understand the argument that says one should support all
possible environments.
I am also not supporting the vast majority of human languages. Nor do
I intend to do so.
