I haven't really been reading this thread, but I'd like to remind folks
that Cygwin is a very nice Bash shell for Windows and includes just about
every app under the sun, not to mention gcc, etc. so you can compile
things yourself. I haven't opened a DOS window in 10 years, it seems like.
