controversial GPLv3 could doom GPL's success

The GPLv2 gives you the option to mandate no newer
GPL version be automatically used.  This is what
the Linux kernel does.

If the final GPLv3 ends up being controversial
more people will choose to stay locked into GPLv2
and NOT allow compatibility with GPLv3 like
Linux kernel does.

This would be most tragic as you would then
encourage 2 incompatible camps of code....

GPLv2 code and GPLv3 code.

This would be worse than the Emacs/XEmacs schism.

I'm not sure RMS will cave on practical concerns
on this one so I'm worried.
