South Korea just lost several politicans over illegally surveilling 
citizens.  Do you think that would even get *noticed* here?

In addition, our politicians are certainly not above threatening the 
Internet for domestic or international political gain.

In fact, this is the best argument for decentralizing the whole shebang.
