ECC RAM: Single Error Correct, Double Error Detect. If you buy ECC RAM,
and your MOBO does not support at least SECDED, you are throwing your
money away. ChipKill can correct even more errors than SECDED.

The trouble is, a lot of motherboards will *detect* ECC RAM, so you
think you are getting your money's worth. Most don't do a damned thing.
I know that Gigabyte MOBO's support SECDED.

I was wrong about ASUS: it is Abit that is the big liar. The Asus A7M266
motherboard does use the AMD 761 chipset. The chipset can do SECDED, but
the motherboard itself does not. Don't ask me why.

What I want is a way to be able to actually test these things, instead
of having to rely upon someone else telling me.
