ddr memory

I have my spare computer with a new motherboard, PC chips K7 M825g, and it 
has 2 memory slots. These are 184 pin slots.  It came w/128 meg mem, 
DDR128MB PC266 according to the sales slip.

The manual mentions 'mb accommodates two mem modules' 'each module can be 
installed with 32mb to 1gb memory',

So I bought a 512mb pc2100 dimm memory module and my son installed.  I was 
hoping the mb would use both. However only the 512 mb is recognized.  I 
thought the newer mb did not need the mem. installed in pairs anymore but 
guess I was wrong.  Anyone want a 128 mem module cheap ??
