wireless with orinoco card

I just got Cox working, and I was able to get my Orinoco Gold card 
working with Windows ME on my own box with a wireless connection to a 
Netgear router downstairs, which I am using for this.  But I am unsure 
what to do to get things working in Linux.  I am using Libranet 2.8.1, 
Kernel 2.4.21, a Debian distro.  Any help would be appreciated, as the 
speed of this connection is something else.
