So I was led to this
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-linux.html#plugin

I tried the prescription found there

./regxpcom -u
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so

and got this.

Can not initialize XPCOM Glue
Can not aquire component registrar
Unregistration failed: (ffffffff)
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so

Is it any wonder that some people feel all of this is "Not ready for prime
time." ?

boblq "i don't really want to know this"
