Does 'up2date -u' make Bugtraq reading unnecessary?

I find that filtering on only stuff I know I have
installed makes it a little more bearable. YMMV.

Once in a while redhat(and other distros too) don't
release an update till weeks/months later in which a
simple config change would close the hole. Take w/ a
grain of salt.
