When you boot try 'linux x86_serial_nr=1' at the lilo prompt and if it works
add append='linux x86_serial_nr=1' to your lilo.conf and run lilo. Better yet,
recompile your kernel for the appropriate architecture right after you get it up.
Some of the installation kernels misidentify the duron as a PIII and it freezes
up when the kernel tries to read the pentium serial number.
