Correct me if I'm wrong, but running KMAIL under GNOME (Haven't tried it
with KDE 2. yet)wouldn't allow me to check my mail, only send....

Anyhow, the Konqueror browser is fantastic (it's fast and renders
accurately, plus it supports Netscape plugins), and the KMail application is
very nice as well for POP and local mail reading.  Only negative is that
KMail doesn't support IMAP yet (they promise it in the next revision).  You
can mix and match Gnome and KDE apps so if you don't like KDE's
WindowManager, you can drop back go Gnome w/Sawmill and still use the
Konqueror/KMail pair.
