dmesg

Finally got a new problem to ask about. I installed RedHat 6.1 today with
only a few odd things, like the fact that the installation interface ideally
requires a mouse, but the mouse isn't going to work until you have installed.
Anyway, after I got it installed, I wanted to see what all was there, so I did
"dmesg" but all I got was an error message "VFS: Disk change detected on
device ide0 (3,64)" What's it mean? Yes, ide0 is a new hard drive. So what?
How do I get "dmesg" to work?
By the way, I finally got my screen resolution changed. Now I could use some
advice on how to make the cursor and pointer bigger.
Thanks!
Don J.
