NSA Vs. Linux

While thinking about two of the threads that have been on here recently I
came up with the following, which I hope will be an interesting question.
There was one thread from a guy (sorry, can't remember his name) who had
lost his password or something, and needed to get back into a drive. He
wanted to know how to "root this puppy." He got all sorts of suggestions
for basically "breaking" into the hard drive. It sounded pretty easy.
Then we had a thread about the NSA recently....
So what would happen if a sinister agent broke into your house and wanted to
look around on your computer system? Could his solution be as simple as a
boot or "rescue" disk? Pardon me, but that doesn't sound too secure. Or am
I missing something?
