I don't remember which way it's supposed to be off the top of my head, but
this invalid password problem most likely has to do with password
encryption. Early versions of 95 had it off, and later versions
of 95/98/NT use password encryption. Check to see if it's turned on.
(Hint, try 'encrypt passwords = true' in the global section of smb.conf.)
Do you use swat for helping with the administration of Samba? I find it
a great help, especially since it has links to docs on all the
configuration parameters.
