Several publications *did*.  I saw articles about this in Fortune,
Business Week, and The Economist.  Not exactly a left leaning set
of periodicals, those.  I even saw one article online.  I don't
remember where though.

However, values are more important than realities, don'tcha know.

Otherwise known as, "Too complicated to pack into a sound bite."

Or, more importantly, the red states are the primary feeders at the
trough of government pork.  Controlling the deficit would have a
disproportionate effect upon the very folks who make up Bush's
Armour of the Lourd(tm).
