We have enjoyed the benefits of various types of "open source" for over 500 years. We have also had copyright systems for about 500 years as well.
Many myths about the history of open source and copyright persist today. By learning about the last 5 centuries of open source, and how it relates to copyright, we can avoid these misconceptions.
This talk will describe this history and how open source has flourished for 500 years with and without the help of copyright.
