Systems Engineer

This position is a person who falls in between a software engineer and a systems administrator. We need somebody who can take our software and can deploy it in a multitude of environments and support the infrastructure as demand for the software grows. This person must be able to monitor individual servers to ensure all services remain active, and if they go down, they can bring them back up immediately.

Skillset requirements:

Strong skills in Linux server administration & and the LAMP stack (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu)

  • Monitoring individual services
    • 24/7 availability to bring back services/servers
    • Experience in setting up and maintaining Windows-based servers
  • Strong shell scripting skills (bash) complemented with strong skills in some other form of scripting (Perl, PHP, Python)
  • Software scaling experience using generic hardware

Desired:

  • Basic mySQL database administration (setting up replication, master/slave relationships)
  • Familiarity with creating packages for Linux distros - .deb and RPMs
  • Familiarity with the concepts behind Amazon EC2 (Experience a plus)
