We are a growing and profitable web media company offering a 4 day work week (for the time being) and a casual but engaging work environment along with other great benefits. We are looking for a highly communicative proactive person to oversee our 5 high volume Linux Apache servers at our co-location space and approximately 20 dedicated hosted servers at a variety of hosting providers.

We are looking for a highly communicative proactive person to oversee our 5 high volume Linux Apache servers at our co-location space and approximately 20 dedicated hosted servers at a variety of hosting providers. Our successful candidate will also support our windows workstations and general office networking needs.

Basic Functions:

The Linux / Windows System administrator is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of all Linux systems and associated peripherals and with support for office windows workstations.

Essential Functions:

Configure and maintain operating systems

Maintain Server software

MySql exposure a plus

PhP Programming a plus

Proven problem solving skills

Security-minded individual

Ability to create and modify file systems using open source tools

Ability to create and administer Linux users and groups locally and using NIS

Ability to create and/or modify Linux scripts (sh, bsh, ksh, etc.).

Ability to modify system startup scripts and procedures.

Experience with installation of internal or vendor applications according to standards,

Ability to troubleshoot installation

Ability to configure and manage tape storage systems

Basic network troubleshooting

Ability to create system Documentation

Ability to think quickly to resolve time critical problems

Monitors performance of servers and Webs sites running on them

Ability to configure and manage Apache

Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with users, vendors, and IT personnel at multiple levels of experience

Experience:

One to five years managing multiple high volume Linux servers
