Enlightenment

Enlightenment has to be one of the best looking Window managers for the X windows system. What it lacks in power it makes up in its wownderful appearance. Recently released DR 15 is fast, configurable, and worth downloading.

Most window managers are based on something else: FVWM95 (windows95), Window Maker (NeXT), AmiWM (AmigaOS). Enlightenment is totally different than any of those. It is not based on any previous OS or anything like that.

Mainly coded by two people, Carsten Haitzler (rasterman), and Geoff Harrison (mandrake). Both under the age of 30, or so they want us to think. It is themeable to the point of unrecognition. Some themes are made to mimic operating systems or even other window managers.
